Oh my gosh this novel was so beautifully written! A Court of Thorns and Roses is a loose retelling of Beauty and the Beast set in the world of Fey. Feyre, the heroine, is a huntress who kills a wolf to feed and clothe her family, but when it is revealed the wolf was a Faerie in disguise, Feyre is taken to the land of Fey in an exchange of a life for a life.
I really, really enjoyed this book. Sarah J. Maas has some of the most gorgeous imagery ever and her books have exquisite world building and story. Her characters are all well rounded and are compelling. This book was a reread for me and I enjoyed it even more the second time around, as the book has a very complex fantasy world in addition to being a fun and romantic read.
As for romance, this novel has a lot of it, so if that's not your thing, this might not be the book for you as there are some VERY adult scenes in this novel and throughout the series. So if you are a younger reader or are not a fan of that type of content, then this book might not interest you. But I LOVE romance and this novel was a really great read for me and had a fantastic and well written romance story that didn't take away from the plot at all -- especially since it certainly at the forefront of the story.
Overall, this book is a 5/5 for me, and I can't wait to read more by Sarah J. Maas!
