Wow -- What a book! This novel about a girl who uses the Manic Pixie Dream Girl trope and persona to win back her boyfriend from a Zooey Deschanel wannabe named Toile was so much fun and so witty and smart.
Beatrice Giovaninni is one of the most likable and interesting characters ever. She loves math and wants more than anything to get into MIT with a scholarship to study informational theory. She creates a formula for the scholarship that not only will help her reach her goal, but will also help her and her friends hopefully stop getting picked on for being nerds. Using this formula, they reinvent themselves, and mayhem and hilarity ensues.
In the background, Beatrice is not only dealing with all of this, but also is dealing with her cheating father and mother who wants nothing more than to find her second husband. This subplot added so much to Bea's character in the mature way that she handled this really grown-up topic.
I absolutely loved this book and the romance in it was so cute and slowburning, which I absolutely love. Queen McNeil did it again! She proved she can not only write fantastic horror, but also the cutest and whip-smartest of contemporaries.
