Holy Cow this book was awesome! Imagine if Mean Girls was a horror movie -- and this is what you'd end up with. I'm a huge fan of traditional slasher films, and absolutely devoured this novel about a girl who gets caught up with the religious group at school who decide to exorcise a demon. This novel is dark and twisted and gritty, and definitely not for the faint of heart.
The pacing of this novel was so excellent and exactly what is needed for a novel like this. Horror has to be fast-paced and it has to keep you on edge. This not only fulfilled those expectations -- it exceeded them. I read this book in two short sittings today and immediately went for the sequel. This story was so compelling in such a dark and twisted way that I couldn't pull myself away from it. It was dark and twisted and gory and terrifying and everything I wanted it to be.
This novel is everything you would expect and want from a horror novel and more. Danielle Vega is an extremely talented author and I intend to read everything she's written and writes in the future!
